Hello Beautiful People,

As mentioned previously, my life revolves around my Google Calendar. Today I am going to share with you how I set up my calendar and my method for time blocking.

Firstly, what is time blocking?

Time blocking is a productivity method where you schedule specific blocks of time on your calendar for focused work on individual tasks or task categories.

Tools like Google Calendar make this easy by letting you visually allocate and protect time for deep work, meetings and breaks.

The first step to successfully time blocking (in my opinion) is setting your daily non negotiables. These will look different for everyone but here’s some of my categories - morning/night routine, corporate job, commute times, workout and active recovery (this includes your rest times/downtime), personal development and business growth and development.

So here’s a breakdown of a normal weekday in my life:

4:30 - 5:20 morning routine

5:20 - 6:30 commute to work

7:35 - 4:00 corporate job

4:00 - 5:30 commute to home

5:30 - 6:00 dinnertime

6:00 - 9:00 business growth and development

9:00 - 10:00  night routine

You may notice there is unallocated time between my commute to work and the start of my corporate job. That is intentional. I don't schedule anything there because that is my time in the morning to catch up with my partner, chill in the car park, eat breakfast and do anything else needed to get my workday started. It also allows for any delays or traffic setbacks.

I don't always follow this schedule but it's the basis of my day. We are human. Sometimes we wake up late, there is a setback in the morning or something just doesn’t go to plan. There is always wiggle room in my schedule (it may not look like it but there is). For example, my morning commute is not always one hour. Most days I am in my car park by 6am but I know if I were to leave home late one morning I may get stuck in traffic so there would be extra time in my schedule to cater for these instances.

However, I always stick to my morning and night routine. I always get up at the same time each morning and I always go to bed at the same time or earlier, never later.

As you start mapping out your own days, remember that time blocking isn’t about perfection it is about intention. The more you protect the things that matter the more spacious and aligned your life becomes. Thanks for spending this time with me today and I hope this inspires you to create a rhythm that works for you not against you. Until next time, happy planning!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your week my friend!

Until my next email,

xx Emily 🫰
