Hello Beautiful,
In last week’s edition, I briefly mentioned the Pomodoro Technique and said we'd unpack it in today's newsletter. So let’s dive in!
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo. It uses a timer to break work into focused intervals, traditionally 25 minutes of work followed by a 5-minute break. Every four "Pomodoros," you take a longer break (15–30 minutes).
Pomodoro Basics
Work: 25 mins
Break: 5 mins
Cycle: 4 Pomodoros = 1 long break
The Perfect Pairing: Pomodoro + 3-3-3
3 Hours of Deep Work → 6 Pomodoros
Break the block into 6 focused intervals. You stay sharp and avoid burnout.
3 Medium Tasks → 1 - 2 Pomodoros each
These tasks are often perfect for a single Pomodoro or two. They feel manageable and still get done efficiently.
3 Small Tasks → 1 Pomodoro total
Batch your admin or shallow work into one focused sprint.
You stay focused and refreshed - no more drifting into distraction.
Why this Combo Works
Enhances Focus: You’re not just blocking time - you’re working in sprints.
Avoids Fatigue: Breaks are built-in, so you recharge before you need to.
Tracks Time: You start to see how long tasks really take.
Motivates Progress: Quick wins in each Pomodoro boost momentum.
That’s it for today, friend! Give the Pomodoro + 3-3-3 combo a try, and let me know how it goes. Until next time - stay focused, stay kind, and don’t forget to take those breaks! 💫
Thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your week my friend!
Until my next email,
xx Emily 🫰
