Hello Beautiful,
For the past couple of months, I’ve been seeing everyone post their Sunday Reset Routine all over social media. While it looked amazing, it was something that didn’t really resonate with me.
Why, you may ask? Well, it was simple. Spending most of my Sunday deep cleaning my living space didn’t produce the same outcome for me. After doing it a couple of Sundays, I realized I was more tired and still had a lot of things left to do to prepare for the week ahead.
Now instead, I do daily 10-15 mins cleans. I had to remind myself that everyone’s life is different - and I also have a corporate job.
So, just as a reminder to you: a routine is not one-size-fits-all. As glamorous as some of these reset routines may look, ask yourself—will this work for me?
Here’s a breakdown of my Sunday Reset Routine (which actually starts on Saturday morning):
Wake up slowly (Although I have an alarm set for 10:00, I allow myself to wake up naturally, which is around 7:30. Then why the 10 o’clock alarm, Emily? This is so that I’m not bombarded with notifications and calls first thing in the morning. I give myself some time to wake up fully and be present—especially on Sundays.)
Laundry
Haircare
Self-Care
Skincare
Meal prep
Organize work and gym clothes for the week
Pack my bags - both work and gym
Review and update my budget
I mentioned that my Sunday Reset Routine actually starts on Saturday, and here’s why…
In order to successfully meal prep, I need to know exactly what I’m making and which ingredients I need. So, on Saturday morning, I make a meal plan and grocery list. Then later that day, I go to the store and pick up exactly what I need. This saves me a lot of time on Sunday afternoons because once I start prepping, there’s no need to stop.
These are non-negotiable and recurring tasks in my Google Calendar.
Is your Google Calendar set up with your non-negotiable and recurring tasks? If not, I’d suggest doing that soon!
Apart from having a Sunday Reset Routine, I also have a Sunday Night Routine.
A bit excessive, you may ask? I think not!
I believe that my Reset Routine sets me up for a productive week ahead - but my Sunday Night Routine sets the tone for Monday morning and helps with the Monday blues.
Here’s the exact breakdown of my Sunday Night Routine (yes, the timestamps are included - they help me stay focused and on track):
19:00 - Ensure all Sunday Reset tasks are completed
19:10 - Shower
19:20 - Nighttime Skin and Body Care
19:35 - Peppermint Tea and Read
19:50 - Oral Care
20:00 - Bedtime (Yes, I go to bed that early 🤣 since I wake up at 04:30)
I try to avoid my phone or any electronic devices after 19:30 (which is also when the Sleep Focus is enabled on my phone). Since doing this routine, I’ve noticed that falling - and staying - asleep has become much easier. In the past, I’d go to bed but wouldn’t fall asleep until around 10 PM, and even then, I’d wake up multiple times during the night.
In summary, I created a reset and night routine tailored to me - focused on intentionality and increasing my productivity.
